We had a class about 'Cyberspace.'
It was quite interesting to think about the cyberspace because we are living in cyberspace.
The VR can be seen as two ways, 'sensory' and 'connentivity.'
You can think of 'sensory' as an experience. Such as virtual tennis game. We play with a racket without a ball and court, but we can see ourself in a screen playing just like as if we are playing in a real court.
'Connectivity' is a little different. This is an another world in a network space. It give us another big world similiar to the real world. If we are in a chatting room or in a mini hompage, such as cyworld, we embody our self to things like avatar or to our ID. In this way we go into the new world.
I don't know how these VR s will interact with the real world and with many other people but it is sure that it allow us to live in a new world.

Dispersal. (10/11)
We have talked about dispersal and distribution.
They have a different meanings.. Dispersal is like every body is distributing.. Such as you-tube. Whoever upload their media files makes a dispersal because it is showing his/her files to anybody, and those people can scrap the files as well.
On the other hand, distribution is a way to send or deliver to many other people from one point. Radio, TV(kbs, sbs, mbc), etc.. could be an example.
I think both distributions and dispersals are an important source.
With distributions we can make dispersals as well as the oposite.
By these technologies it makes prosumers(producer + consumer).

Distinguishing between kinds of new media. (10/2)
What is new media?
How can we distinguish a new media?
Well.. We have learned a lot about new media through previous classes.
With comparing to pictures, games, technology, etc..
In class the new media can be distinguished as a new kinds of genre, new ways of representing the world, new texturial experience, computer-mediated communications, subjectivity, distributing & consuming, etc..
For example, how can a new media represent a world as a new way?
If we go to the game room, we can see a person playing a car game thinking as if he is in the car. Also photographs, drawings, sculptures can represent the world.
MUD game could be a good example for new texturial experience.
In distributing & consuming, there are many programs used around us.
Pruna, e-donkey could be the most familiar programs to us.
Also there are many distributing & consuming systems(programs). Such as RPDS(result printing & distributing system) which distributes many kinds of results(sports results, informations, news, etc) to the customers(news paper company, homepage, broadsystem station, etc..) in real time.
I think the new media can also be for smell, taste, hearing, (sense of) touch, etc..
We could represent the world, communicate by sharing these media too.
